Prior to site upgrade, developed website/online portfolio for contract writing and editing, PalabrasY Mas (?Words &More, Spanish.) Using Bravenet free hosting, wrote template-specific copy and subheads to showcase and sell my creativity, versatility and experience. Imported poetry excerpts and sales copy to site. 2006: Branding and all copy for website for hobby business BelCherubino (TM) , including renaming of popular trend in crafting/embellishment of the ultra-realistic baby doll as "bebe verite". Developed product, set up site: wrote all pages, product description, inventory pitches and related services. Took pix, developed onto CD and uploaded to site. Designed and imported business card copy into template created in Excel, and prepared short print ads, with postcard mailing to come, targeting older girls, women and collectors. Recent: In Fall 2005 founded American Field Dog Authentication Service for the certification and record-keeping of quality purebred sporting dogs with missing or unsupplied papers. Heavy online research; all copy, contracts, and disclaimers. Hard copy on file; site/database pending..
In 2000 founded The Smoking Pen, a freelance copywriting and editing service. Copy for the Colorado Academy of the Arts, Opera Fort Collins, draft copy for the Creede Bureau of Tourism, dog breeders and ranchers, including many effective classified ads for hard to sell older puppies.
In 1994, Founded Gilded Peak Golden Retrievers, a show/breeding kennel, on the banks of Dry Creek in Fort Collins. Ten years marketing stellar puppies, copywriting all materials for packets on the breed, training and care. Outsold other breeders with standout ads in tough regional market.
In 1990 as Assistant Editor for Alpine Books in Loveland, CO, award winning dog breed book publisher, wore all editorial and copywriting hats, including sales pitches for new releases and mock reviews. Hard copy clips available.
In the 80s freelanced for the Kelly Rizley Agency in Fort Collins, The Triangle Review (now defunct), and Colorado State University's CSURF program. For Rizley developed spring theme for First Wyoming Bank Corporation and brochure copy for Wyoming Blue Cross/Blue Shield. Wrote features for The Triangle Review and Choice magazine, and for CSU Research Foundation, brochure copy to sell engineers in the field on continuing ed courses. Developed seasonal themes for Nico's Catacombs and several other local businesses.
In the 70s in Minnesota, developed all house copy for the Minnesota Respiratory Health Association (health ed brochures, annual report, sales letters for contributions) and the St. Paul Poets in the Schools Program, selling the benefits of the artist in the classroom to public schools, administrators, and parents.
